Our new Membership and eCommerce features are now available. The WAGS Website will be undergoing further changes into the future.

We are working on upgrading the underlying Content Management System (CMS). This will make the site more secure, and allow us to provide more options. We are also updating the site template which will change the look and feel of the site.

Please bear with us whilst these changes are undertaken over the next couple of months.

New Year Resolutions 2010

Happy New Year from WAGS

The Western Australian Genelaogical Society wishes all of our members and visitors a very prosperous and successful 2010, and we hope that the New Year brings all that you wish for.

New Year Resolutions for Genealogists - A list to help you on your way:

  • Have a chat with living relatives - before it is too late. Use a list of basic questions but don't be restricted by them, and follow tangents, they can be very rewarding. Talk to the eldest as well as the youngest members of the family.

  • Check and double check, and record your sources - especially when using the Internet, otherwise you could be writing fiction.

  • Write down how, when and where  - you go about your research so that you don't cover the same ground again.

  • Label your digital images and photos - with meaningful names and dates.

  • Record your own life and that of your family - There are many ways to do this, use a diary, a notepad, or exercise book, write a journal, use the computer, or even write a book. Just Do It - no matter how you choose to do it, just do it, your family and descendants will thank you.
