WAGS AGM

A very successful and enjoyable Annual General Meeting was held on Sunday 26th June 2011. Approx 80 members attended and there was a very positive vibe during the AGM and afterwards members had a chance to chat with other members while enjoying a wonderful afternoon tea. Thank you to everyone who provided the food and/or helped set up and clean up afterwards.

Graham Bown was elected President and the new Management Committee members are:

President - Graham Bown                       Vice President - Jeanette Robertson
2 Vice President - vacant                          Secretary - Pauline Pryer
Treasurer - Neil Bradley                            Librarian - Julie Martin
Liaison Officer - Ray Smith                       Projects Officer - Julie Maddocks
Property Officer - Lawrence Doran          Publications Officer - vacant
Committee Members - Ian Barnes, Ian Lister, Jennifer Lydon and Helen Geijsel
Immediate Past President - Liana Fitzpatrick

Thanks were extended to the two retiring members from Committee: Lyn Watts (Publications Officer) and Margaret Pike (committee member). They have both been on the Management Committee for many years and we thank them for their great contribution. Even though they are no longer on the committee we are pleased that they will still be involved in other roles at WAGS.

Liana Fitzpatrick's three year term as WAGS President came to an end at this AGM and we thank her for her leadership, assistance and commitment to the role during her term as President. She will remain on committee as the immediate past president. Graham Bown (member no 136) was elected as the new President. Graham has been a member of WAGS for about 30 years and brings a wealth of experience to this position. We thank him for accepting the nomination of WAGS President and have great confidence in his ability to lead the Society into the coming year.

The other new member to committee is Helen Geijsel (member no 8437). Helen has been a member for about 10 years, and is a key holder in the WAGS Library on alternate Thursdays. We welcome both Graham and Helen to the committee. Members of the committee have a wonderful range of experiences and we look forward to them all working together in the coming year to continue to increase the profile of WAGS and to improve resources and benefits for all our members.

The 2010 -2011 Annual Report was presented and mention was made of some of the fantastic projects that WAGS have been involved with during the year. Each convenor and co-ordinator highlighted items that happened within their area and members had the opportunity to ask questions. [The annual report will be in the members only section of the website shortly].

A WAGS service award, with two years free membership, was presented to Chris Loudon, WAGS IT Officer and webmaster. Congratulations, Chris and thank you for the fantastic contribution you give to WAGS and for making both our IT systems and website first class.

There are still 2 vacant positions on the management committee: 2nd Vice President and Publications Officer. These are very important positions on committee. We also have vacancies in a couple of non committee positions - Volunteers Co-ordinator and Membership Officer.
