2011 National Family History Week

Family History Open Day
National Family History Week (NFHW) will be held 29 July -8 August this year. The NFHW website contains information about events throughout Australia.

Are you just beginning to find out about your family history or have you been doing research for a while but don't know what to do next? Come along to the WAGS Family History Open Day on Sunday 7th August (10am - 4pm) to find out what information is available.

You will be amazed at the vast amount of resources available in our Library.

Not only are there records from WA but from all over Australia and from around the world! But best of all, our members will be able to point you in the right direction of where to look for your ancestors.

There will be information and displays from the WAGS Special Interest Groups (Computer, Convict, Enrolled Pensioner Guards, India and South East Asia, Irish, London and Home Counties, The Master Genealogist, North of England, Scottish, South Australian, South-Western European, Swan River Pioneers and Victorian).

You will have the opportunity to talk to people about family history in a friendly and informal atmosphere.

There will be a special membership offer on the day. For further information have a look at our pdf 2011 Open Day Poster and pdf 2011 Open Day Brochure or contact WAGS on 9271 4311.

State Library of WA
The State Library of Western Australia is having a series of tours and presentations on Tuesday 2nd, Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th August. WAGS will also have a display in the Genealogy Centre on the 1st floor. Check out the SLWA website for further details of their program and times
