New Librarian and Projects Officer
Julie Maddocks (WAGS member 7362) is our new Projects Officer. Julie has already taken over from Ian Barnes who was our acting Projects Officer (he will remain on the Projects committee). Julie has also recently started as a WAGS volunteer at the Genealogy Centre at the SLWA.
I would like to congratulate and welcome both Julies to their respective positions. Your commitment to WAGS is greatly appreciated and I hope you will find your new roles both enjoyable and rewarding.
Julie Martin (WAGS member 10998) is our new Librarian. Julie has previous experience at the SLWA and Battye Library and has been helping with research at WAGS. Edwina Shooter will be in the Librarian's chair during December and Julie will start in January.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ian Barnes for being acting Projects Officer for the last 6 months and Edwina Shooter who has been our acting Librarian for nearly 2 years. Even though you are stepping aside and taking a well deserved rest, we hope to still see you at WAGS.
Christmas is nearly upon us and this is a special time to be with family and friends. It is also a wonderful time to talk to people about family history and to tell them some of the interesting things you have discovered during the year! Are you still looking for Christmas presents - then why not get something from the Bookshop or give a WAGS voucher as a Christmas present!
The WAGS Library will close at 5pm on Sunday 12th December 2010 and reopen at 1pm on Sunday 9th January 2011.
I wish you all a very enjoyable and safe Christmas and hope that the New Year brings much success in your research.
Until next time, good luck with your research.
