What is happening at WAGS?

It has been a busy time at WAGS. Our e-commerce membership module was launched on Friday 15th April. Within 24 hours 70 members had renewed on line! Fantastic! It is great to see new members joining online. Thanks to Chris Loudon and the team for all their work in getting this module up and running. Who Do You Think You Are

On Friday 5th November 2010, Ralph and I attended the launch of Who Do You Think You Are? - Series 3 at the Maritime Museum in Fremantle. Australian Cricket legend, Rod Marsh's family history was featured.  Rod was at the launch and answered questions regarding his experience in filming this episode.

It was wonderful to see WA represented, especially Liz Kelly, Geraldton Family History Society's Librarian and Alan Ralph and Marjorie Bly from the National Archives Australia (Perth Office).

From the President - October 2010
October is a busy month for genealogy in WA. There are many events happening.

WA Week - 17 to 24 October
This week was chosen for WA Week as Proclamation Day was on 21 October 1890. This marked the transition of Western Australia from a colony under British rule to self-government. Visit www.celebratewa.com.au for information about WA Week and the history of WA, including Proclamation Day.

Apart from our normal activities, WAGS is involved in a couple of major events this week.

WAGS WA Week Open Day - Tuesday 19th October 10am - 3pm
Units 4, 5 and 6, 48 May St Bayswater

The Swan River Pioneer, Convict, Enrolled Pensioner Guards, SW European and Computer Special Interest Groups and WAGS Bookshop are holding a WA Week Open Day for you to have a chance to find out about your WA family history.
