What has changed?

Search Capability

The Directory is now searchable by Name, Country, State / County, Location, Period and Membership Number.

Email Member about their MI Entries

You can now  send an email direct to a WAGS member who has something of interest to you, by clicking on the Membership Number.  Just enter the Subject as "WAGS Members Interest Directory". 

Members Individual MI pages

Previously WAGS members had their own individual page for their contact details and a list of all their Members Interest submissions. This service is no longer available. 

Instead, you are now able to use the search or filtering facility under the "Member" column. Just type the Membership Number of interest into the box, and all of the entries for that number will be filtered to appear in the table. To get back to all entries, delete the number from the box and hit the enter key, or click on the "Reset" button at the bottom of the table.

This new method of searching has been introduced to enhance your search capability. 

GRD & Chapman Codes

Country and County Codes are no longer used to abbreviate place names in the Members Interest Directory.

All entries will now show the the full name of Locations, State / County and Countries. All new entries will need to be in the same format, as shown in the instructions below.

State / County Names

In some cases, the State & County names for Locations in the table have been amended to reflect the actual county in which a location now falls. This may not be the traditional or "historic" county. The boundaries for some counties have changed over time, and the jurisdiction for a location has consequently moved into a new county or city borough. Other locations in the table have yet to be amended to their changed county; these are planned to be done over time.

If your entry in the Members Interest table has been amended and is causing you problems, or you would prefer to maintain the "historic" County for a particular location, please contact the Webmaster by email outlining your concerns.

  Instructions

Place WAGS MEMBERS' INTEREST DIRECTORY in your subject line, or MID UPDATE if sending corrections or additions.

In the body of the email type your: Full Name; Membership Number; Email Address; Postal Address, including the State and Country in which you live. This is for our information only. Only your membership number will be published on the table, with your email address hidden behind it.

Beneath your details, please type in the information about your interests, in the order shown, under the following headings;

SURNAME:   COUNTRY:   STATE / COUNTY:   LOCATION:   PERIOD:   MEMBER No.  (use TAB for spaces).
SURNAME/s:  Place all your surnames submitted in alphabetical order and in upper case
COUNTRY:                  (Full Country Name, not abbreviated - e.g. Australia)
STATE or COUNTY:   (Full State or County Name - e.g. Western Australia)
LOCATION:                  (Full name of the Town, Village or district - e.g. Fremantle)
PERIOD:                       (Place the following symbols in front of the year);

  "<"    for "pre" or "before";
  ">"   for "after";
  "-"   for "between" dates; and,
   "c"  for "about" or "Circa".

For example,
pre 1850 would be;                                                       <1850  
after 1850 would be;                                                     >1850
dates between 1850 and 1865 would be:                1850-1865
about 1850 would be:                                                   c1850
If you are unsure of the dates, for example it is in the 1820's or perhaps in the 1800's please use the "between" method as above i.e. show it as:  1820-1830 (for the 1820's) or 1800-1900 (for the 1800's).
